The Beauty of Summer in Japan

07/03/2025 13:47

Hi, it’s SAYAKA.

Summer in Japan is hot. Very hot.

But even with the heat and humidity, I actually love this season.

There’s something special about summer here—something that makes your heart feel warm in a different way.

Here are a few things I love about summer in Japan:

🍧 1. Traditional Summer Foods

Watermelon, cold noodles, shaved ice (kakigōri)…

Japanese summer food is not only delicious, but also helps you cool down.

My favorite? Matcha kakigōri with condensed milk—sweet, bitter, and perfect.

🎆 2. Fireworks and Festivals

In the evening, the sky lights up with beautiful fireworks (hanabi).

You’ll see people wearing yukata, playing festival games, and eating street food.

The atmosphere is so nostalgic—it feels like stepping into a scene from an anime.

🌿 3. Sounds of Summer

Japanese summer has a unique soundtrack:

Cicadas singing, wind chimes ringing, and the distant sound of fireworks.

Those small sounds bring a kind of quiet beauty that I really love.

🛁 4. Cooling Off

After a hot day, I love taking a cool shower or enjoying a cold drink on the balcony.

Even the smallest things feel so relaxing during summer.

🩷 Why I Love It

Summer in Japan isn’t just about the temperature.

It’s about the feelings, the memories, and the little moments that only this season brings.

Even when I’m tired, sweating, or overwhelmed by the heat,

I always find something beautiful in it.

If you ever visit Japan during summer, I hope you can feel it too.

With love,

SAYAKA
